We are reaching out to you to provide an update on recent developments affecting the raw materials and finished goods that we import into the United States. These include leathers, non-leathers, linens, silks, book cloths, papers, boxes, prints, etc. that either we or our suppliers import from other countries around the world.
On July 30, 2025 the President of the United States signed an Executive Order ending the de minimus exception for all countries, effective August 29, 2025. After that date, all shipments into the US, regardless of value or origin, will require full customs clearance and applicable duties. The United States have reached agreements with the countries that we import products from, namely South Korea, Japan, China and Italy. Following these agreements, the adjusted tariff rates on imports to the US are as follows: Korea 15%, Japan 24%, China 30% and Italy 15%.
We are doing our best to absorb many of the additional administrative and logistics-related costs associated with this policy change. However, part of these tariffs will need to be passed on. As of September 1, 2025, unless a new agreement is reached, you will see this surcharge listed as a separate line item on your invoices that will add 10% of your total. We are not passing the full tariff rates onto you and will continue to absorb the difference for as long as we can. Please know this decision was not reached lightly. We have, and will continue to monitor this situation closely in the event rates change for the better. We will also continue look for alternative products domestically that could potentially relieve some financial burden for everyone without sacrificing the quality you have come to expect from us. By itemizing this charge, we want to make it clear that this is not a price increase. This approach allows us to maintain the flexibility to remove the charge swiftly as this ever-evolving situation develops.
